However, there are things you need to know before joining the Electric Bike bandwagon. So we’re tackling all the questions every Electric Bike newbie has!
HOW DOES AN ELECTRIC BIKE WORK?
Think of it as a regular bike but with an electric motor that assists in pedaling, making your ride more efficient, effortless, and powerful.
When you pedal at a normal pace, the electric motor will replicate the pace, making it a whole lot easier for you. The electric motor is a game changer when it comes to braving steep or long hills, rough terrain, and even powering through the strongest headwind. Thanks to its electric motor, you still get the same power even when you’re too tired to keep pedaling.
Think of the Electric Bike as the child of the traditional bicycle and motorcycle! It may not go as fast but it ensures the rider only has a smooth experience. So, the electric motor is not here to replace you, but to supplement your pedaling power.
If you’re worried about its weight, it is quite heavier than your humble everyday bicycle, however this weight will not hinder your riding experience as extra weight doesn’t mean much against the weight of the rider itself. And with the motor assisting you, it can manage a much heavier load.
ARE ELECTRIC BIKES LEGAL IN AUSTRALIA?
Our Electric Bikes are 100% legal! All of our models have motors over 250W, these are deemed for offroad use under Australian law. It is up to you to use it responsibly.
WILL MY ELECTRIC BIKE BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY?
When you purchase your Electric Bike from us, you get a 3-year warranty for the frame, 1.5 years for the battery, and 1 year for its charger.
Do keep in mind some other components have their own separate warranties from us such as the Shimano and Sram, but they do have their own which you can check out on their website for more details.
CAN ELECTRIC BIKES BE USED MANUALLY?
Yes, definitely! In fact, you can easily switch between manual and pedal assist, for example you might want to use the motor when riding uphill to avoid completely wiping you out during the ride then switching back to manual once you’re on a leveled plane.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY?
A Lithium-ion battery that’s completely drained will take from 3.5 hours to 6 hours to be fully recharged.
WHAT IS THE LIFESPAN OF THE BATTERY?
It depends on the usage but it can take 500 full charge cycles for a Lithium-ion battery. But some can even deliver to as much as 1200 full charge cycles! But the trick to prolonging battery life is charging it immediately when it’s down to 50%, that counts as only half of one charge cycle.
If you usually use your Electric Bike with pedal assist you can expect to go 10,000-30,000 miles before replacing your battery. And that’s a whole lot of miles on a bicycle. Rest assured, your Electric Bike’s battery is long-lasting.
HOW FAST CAN AN ELECTRIC BIKE GO?
As we mentioned above, when you pedal with pedal assist (PAS) engaged, the motor will provide the assistance level you have selected. However, it has its limits! The pedal assist will only ever help you reach a maximum assisted speed of 25Km/h.
DO ELECTRIC BIKES REDUCE CARBON FOOTPRINT?
An Electric Bike reduces your carbon footprint by a lot! It takes over 60 Electric Bikes to match the carbon footprint of a single average, gasoline-powered car. Not to mention saving the environment from CO2 emission that’s produced by a car.
CAN I LEAVE MY ELECTRIC BIKE OUT IN THE RAIN?
On an occasional rainy day, you need not worry as the motor and battery are thoroughly sealed to be protected from the rain. Do keep in mind not to drive 70 miles per hour under heavy rain with the battery exposed, this is like pressure-washing your battery.
CAN I UPGRADE MY ELECTRIC BIKE WITH A LARGER BATTERY?
All of our Electric Bikes have removable batteries! This allows you to easily take them out for a charge and even replace them with higher range batteries.
